Dropping NSLog in release builds →
Good tip (I could have figured this out myself I guess, but I’m logging it anyway so that later when I search for this I won’t have to)
Flickr: Brushes Gallery – iPhone Art →
Brushes seems to be a great iPhone application. If I were an artist anno 2009 in Paris I’d stump all the other artists by painting on my iPhone. I’ll bet I’d get more attention than any other artist and I could send people their painting via e-mail
The Setup of John Gruber →
I wonder if that’s what my hair will look like now that I’m letting it grow.
Some goodies listed that I don’t know yet and thus need to check out. If John uses it it can’t be bad?
ExpanDrive →
Ridiculously simple SFTP and FTP drive access on your Mac. I tried it and …. yep, instant buy. This is how it should be done from the Finder. I vaguely remember that an early version of OS X had something like this built in?
Jumpcut: Minimalist Clipboard Buffering for OS X →
Very handy utility for OS X and open source (MIT) too, so you can study the source code.
Found brilliant code for creating hotkeys in the source.

Formatting the Drobo for Time Machine Backups |... →
A recent disk crash made me rethink about doing backups. Just having old copies around is not the way to go. I use Time Machine but that doesn’t backup everything, since that’s too much data. A Drobo might be a better solution… I’ll have to decide what I’ll do before any more disks crash.
This howto seems interesting to bookmark.
Prediction for 2009: first Mac virus. Then people arguing about whether Mac is better than PC. Then people talking about how monocultures are bad, even in Biology. Those people will be right but the discussion will still be about which is, in the end, better. Mac or PC. Blackberry or iPhone.
FOSDEM: Main Tracks and Speakers published →
I always used to get excited when this was announced, but now… not anymore. I’m trying to find out what it’s about, what is Scala, who is Mark Surman, are there other things that might be interesting?
And this year is the first year that … I might have better things to do with my time.
Still considering going though, nothing’s been decided yet.
Macworld Expo 2009 Predictions →
Daring Fireball has been spot on most of the time. So spot on, I would not bother anymore with watching the keynote if it weren’t for those new iPhoto features I long for
Letter from Apple CEO Steve Jobs →
The rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated (part II)
Now will we stop thinking that whatever Apple does it must be doing it because Jobs is dying?
5 Reasons for Software Developers to Do Code... →
My first job was without a version control system and we merged our code changes into the main tree weekly while reviewing the code in pairs.
I was a novice then, but I learned a lot by getting response on my code from the more experienced coders.
I agree with every single reason mentioned here.
I am convinced the zune loop bug would not have happened if a second glimpse was cast on it before...

But some of those tools (disk visualizer) will help me get through my (oh the dreadful thought) next Windows session too
